You heard it here, he is two. It's crazy to say out loud actually. I know, I know, every mother talks how they can't believe their children are growing up so fast, yada yada. But really people, I can't believe he is already TWO! He is such a little talker now. Last night he was singing, "happy birthday to you." Just that line, over and over, but it was so cute. He repeats everything you say and is starting to pronounce words better. He really likes to read books, when I walk into his room to go to bed, pull the shades, I turn around and Jaxon is turning on his lamps saying "read books." He also like to count. I attribute most of this to his extreme obsession with Umizoomi (cartoon). He can count to 12, but misses a couple numbers here and there.
He still takes a 2-3 hour nap every afternoon and sleeps about 11 hours at night. I like to say he needs his sleep so he can keep up with himself during the day. He goes and goes for hours, climbing, running, playing. His new obsession is sports. He loves his basketball hoop, throwing balls, and working on his baseball swing. He is all boy. He absolutely loves to be outside. We have a newly fenced in backyard and it is so nice for him!! It totally keeps him contained! He also really likes animals, action figures, and trucks. Currently pointing out every dump truck, semi truck, tractor, pickup, school bus and fire truck consume our car rides. Shockingly he gets every one right and can totally tell the difference.
He weighs in at 33 pounds and some ounces. I can't remember what his height was, but he is still our big boy.
He is still so leery around strangers. It depends on his day/mood, but it can sometimes get frustrating for us. He doesn't just cower like a typical toddler when they are scared of someone, he all out cries when they try to talk to him. He is just a slow warmer upper and I need to understand that he will come out of his shell as he gets older.
For his actual birthday we were camping out at Sibley park. I will have
to blog about that later this week, and this weekend we are having a
birthday party out at the Dakota Zoo! Here are some of his 2 year
pictures. He was an absolute brat almost the entire time. I am shocked
our photographer was able to get a few good ones. He cried, whined,
didn't want to smile, and was at my wits end by the time we called the
session over. Whew, the life of a 2 year old.
