Well, the DLM (Dr. Louis Murphy) gave Kendall a thorough check up (we def got our $$ worth!) and because of the high fever that weekend and her swollen tonsils, ordered a rapid strep test. I'm not gonna lie, I thought DLM was going a bit overboard?! After all, she said her throat wasn't even red! But that is also something I love about her, she is very proactive and doesn't take any chances. So we left with a prescription for the UTI and went home. Oh yeah, she said Jaxon's crap was just a cold, which we thought.
I dropped both kiddos back off at daycare and went back to work. Well, low and behold, the nurse called me and said Kendall's rapid strep came back positive! I was shocked. So Rick went to pick Kendall up at daycare. Meanwhile, Rick was home sick with what we like to call...the plague. A whole lotta yuck with him. Throat, cough, head, nose, fever, you name it.
Fast forward one week. What did you miss? Kendall got better, Rick stayed the same, I got a mini version of Rick's plague, and Jaxon got worse.
I like to say that I am blessed with 2 good sleepers. Jaxon has slept through the night since he turned 6 weeks. Well, since he has been sick, he has been waking up about 1-4 times every night. It's been awful. He has had a fever off and on and just plain crabby. By today it had been 10 days. I have heard the DLM's speech many times about viruses. Typically 5-7 days and no more then 10 days with a typical viral infection. Well, we took Jaxon back into her today and she did a chest xray and blood work. Chest x-ray came back positive for pneumonia! Ahhh! That's what I was afraid of :( Our Hochhalter family seems to be falling a part at the seams! For the past 2 weeks either Kendall or Jaxon has been sick, along with Rick. Well, he got a shot of antibiotics a few hours ago. He will return to the clinic tomorrow for another chest x-ray and another shot of antibiotics. In addition he has oral antibiotics for the next 10 days.
Our family is relatively healthy other then your usual colds, etc. This has been a tough couple weeks for our family. Thankfully we are in good hands with our doctor and she is only just a cell phone call away (ha ha! She did give me her cell number after Jaxon was born, but I swore never to use it unless it was desperate)
Today is Jaxon's 8 month birthday, I will try to post something tomorrow or the next. Kendall is screaming that she is hungry! Here are some pics to tide you over:
