open like an alligator

Kendall had her first trip to the dentist this week.  We strayed from our family dentist and brought her to a pediatric dentist in town.  Side note: We LOVE our family dentist, but as you all probably know by now, our Kendall is a bit of a scaredy cat.  I didn't want her to be afraid of the dentist forever just because of one bad experience.  I was hoping that since this was a pediatric dentist, the chance of that happening was less since they specialize in kids. 

Anyway, I was super impressed with the dentist and hygienist.  They had an AMAZING approach to the cleaning (yes, they did a full cleaning on her since she is over 3) and she giggled at her her words.  She flossed her teeth to "get the chicken nuggets out," she put "princess polish" on her teeth, and told her to open her mouth like an alligator.  She got through the entire cleaning like a champ!  Then the dentist came in and he was awesome with her as well.  He sang songs while looking at her teeth and answered all our questions completely.  After everything was done she walked away with TWO prizes, a toothbrush, floss, toothpaste, and a balloon.  She made a HAUL! 

I definitely consider it a success when she asked me that night, "Mom, when my prizes are gone, can I go back to the dentist?"  Yes Kendall, you can go back in 6 months!
