where to begin?

Since beginning this blog almost 5 years ago, I don't think I have ever gone this long between posts.  I don't even have a good excuse.  We have been busy, but not busier then any other time.  So much has happened, I literally don't even know where to begin.  A trip to South Bend, Minneapolis, Fargo, Grand Forks...we have been traveling and busy.  Kendall turned 5 (she gets her own post later this week), another Thanksgiving and Christmas passed and Jaxon is potty training.

Our trip to South Bend continues to be a highlight of our year.  We attended a Notre Dame football game in November.  They won again, I am beginning to think we are good luck, but that is where the similarities end.  Last year we went in October and it was a beautiful fall day.  This year the weather was quite different.  It was very cold and windy.  We went with Ryan and Tara (Rick's brother and sister in law) and all bundled up.  It didn't help much!  The only place that is heated in the stadium are the bathrooms.  So of course I spent the entire half time in the women's bathroom.  Me and about 55 other women.  I made some friends, heard their life story, and met them again sometime during the 4th quarter when we needed to warm up again!  It was still a great time, and seeing a Notre Dame football game is something that can't be described in words.  It's an experience, and one that is unlike any other.

We spent Thanksgiving in Minneapolis.  We shopped, swam and ate our hearts out.  Jaxon is my little fish and has no fear in the water.  We throw his water wings on and he is out on his own.  Kendall is getting so much better in the water and even goes under the water.

We spent Christmas at home, which was nice.  My family came up the weekend before, on their way to visit Bret in Denver (he moved there this fall).  Christmas Eve was busy with mass and Red Lobster with Rick's Mom and Stepdad.  On Christmas Day the entire family literally didn't get out of our pajama's.  Ricks Dad and Liz came over for breakfast and we opened presents.  The afternoon was consumed by a family nap and Christmas light looking.  It was a perfect end to the holiday season.

Like I said before, we are knee deep in potty training.  We weren't sure if he was ready (or was it us?), but we decided to take the plunge a few weeks ago. Threw him in underwear and made him a treasure chest full of trinkets he earned  after he used the potty.  Much to our surprise, he is doing great!  We have only had a handful of accidents throughout the weeks.  It's a work in progress, but Rick and I can see the light at the end of the diaper tunnel.  He talks all the time, and has such a cute voice.  He is unbelievably obsessed with all things super hero's.  Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America, and all the rest of them.  It floors me how knee deep he is in super hero world.  He dresses up as super hero's, "reads" the books, watches the shows, and acts out scenes with his figurines.

Kendall still continues to enjoy school and dance.  She takes part in two different dance classes each week, one through Just for Kix and the other through Studio X.  She loves to sing songs, over and over again.  She is getting good at all her kindergarten learning books and can't wait to start school all day this fall.

Rick and I have added a new member of the family.  A treadmill!  Rick was so sneaky and coerced Jenn into taking me out to lunch one day, while him and Josh picked up the treadmill he ordered and set it up for me before I got home!  He is such a thoughtful hubby!  I am attempting this thing called RUNNING.  I definitely can't say I enjoy it, but I do feel a sense of accomplishment when I get done running.  I think Rick and I are going to take part in the Fargo Marathon relay this spring.  So that will be something fun for us to work for!
