There has been so much controversy going around about the H1N1 vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine that it's been making my head spin. To vaccinate or not to vaccinate my child, that has been my dilemma. I've heard both sides...."there is so much mercury in that H1N1 that it is dangerous for anyone," "it hasn't been fully tested," and so on. But doctors and other people everywhere are saying to get this vaccine, because it's such and unpredictable virus and it's killing people at a much faster rate then the seasonal flu. Well, when I called my doc's nurse a few days ago to see when they were getting them in, she said "we have a few, but if you want one, you better get your butt in here today because they are in high demand." Literally, the nurse said that! So my "window of decision time" was VERY limited and I told Rick just to take her in to get it right away. So Kendall got her vaccine. Now, I have the crabbiest baby since we found out she had reflux at like 5 weeks old. She is crabby, has to be held walking around, and cannot be in a different room from us. Right now I have to hold her and keep her from touching the keyboard, which is no easy task! So in the end, I guess I am happy she got the vaccine, but HOLY crabby baby! At this point it has been over 48 hours so I am pretty sure it's not the effects of the vaccine, but something else, maybe a tooth finally popping through?
My other topic today is on Walmart. I have always gone to JCPenny for Kendall's pictures. Yeah, yeah, I am THAT mom that gets pics taken at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. Well, for her 9 month pictures, I thought I would just go to Walmart to get her pictures done. They have a 7.99 package and this really is sufficient. We take so many pictures of her anyway that this is really just a way to document her at each stage of her first year. Oh yeah, and give some to the fam. Well, after going to Walmart, I realize why it is so cheap. All she did to try and get Kendall to smile is squeak a duck above her head and say "Kendall" in a raspy smoker's voice. I wouldn't smile at her either. Well, whatever, we got one decent shot for the package deal and I said that was fine. We got a couple other decent ones in a bathtub so we called it a day. There was no way Kendall was smiling at this lady. But then we went to the computer to order the pics and she was soo difficult. She wouldn't even crop a picture for the package. Apparently then it's "enhanced" and goes from 8 dollars to 30. Really? All I wanted was her socks out of the picture since I thought they clashed with her shirt. Then I had a coupon for $5 collages. Well, she was being a pill and only wanted to show me two of the collages when I clearly saw on the screen there were over 50. Ugh! Well, in the end I got my pictures and spent a grand total of $22 with tax! So at least it was cheap :) But I will definitely be heading back to Penny's for Kendall's 12 month pictures.
Update: I started this post this morning and am finally finishing it tonight and Kendall has been MUCH better since this morning. It's funny actually, because she is totally fine as long as she is OUT of the house. This morning she was so crabby at home, but at the daycare at YMCA she was soo good. I spent a few hours over at the Jeffers' this afternoon and this evening, and she was great! I just don't get it?? How is she fine anywhere but home? Has anyone else experienced this? Crazy!
