On Saturday after Rod's house, we made the trek all the way to Bad Medicine Lake in Minnesota. This is almost a 4 hour drive, whew! The family thought it would be fun to have Christmas out the lake. My dad chopped down and tree and the girls were able to go sledding!
The kiddos did awesome on the way there and back. Actually, on the way back, BOTH kiddos slept the ENTIRE way home. Pure bliss.
We got there on Saturday late afternoon. That night we went to a little church for 8pm mass. When we got home we let Kendall and Amaya (my niece) open one gift each. This was the first of MANY gifts to be opened. On Sunday we woke up and Kendall was SUPER excited that Santa ate all the cookies she made him at daycare AND the reindeer ate all the carrots. Seriously, the littlest things get this kiddo excited. Just like her momma...
We literally opened presents in shifts we had so many. Both Rick and I and my brothers family brought all their gifts there, plus we had the ones from my parents. We stopped about half way through and ate breakfast and then opened the rest.
On Sunday afternoon we busted out the Kinect that Rick and I bought during black Friday. Oh my gosh was that fun. If you haven't tried it, you must. There is no controllers, no pad to stand on, nothing. Our family had A LOT of fun with it all weekend.
The ladies had some fun ~putting together~ a gingerbread house. We were complete failboats and after we made the house, it completely fell down! Oh well, it tasted good anyway!
Monday morning was beautiful out and the girls and Grandpa went sledding!! We went out on the lake where it is frozen over, and walked quite a ways. The girls LOVED it and it was a great experience for both of them. Jaxon will have to take part next year.
All in all, it was a wonderful Christmas extravaganza. Kendall obviously got used to opening presents on a daily basis, here is the convo she and Rick had last night. Kendall: "Dad, I am gonna be a good girl, so we can open presents tomorrow." :) Crazy though that her party is in less then 2 weeks, where she will get to open another round of gifts.
Well, that's a wrap. Whew, it's exhausting writing about Christmas! If you are keeping track, Jaxon turned 6 months last week, I will get to his post soon enough ;)
